Hip surgery in France

Mrs T suffered with intense pain and immobility so she decided to have a hip operation in France.  She travelled with her husband on the Eurotunnel and stayed for 12 days at the Clinique des Francisaisnes in Versailles where she had her minimally invasive Total Hip Replacement Surgery.  This incorporated two days for the pre-surgical check-up, consultations with the orthopaedic surgeon, the anaesthetist, the cardiologist and the necessary tests, examinations and x-rays.  She had her operation on the third morning and stayed for another nine days after the operation where she had daily physiotherapy exercises.  Seven weeks after Mrs T had her hip replacement she had been totally relieved of her pain. 

She said:  “The whole experience was exceptional and I would recommend it without reservation.  The staff was extremely professional, competent, compassionate and pleasant at all times and the standards of hygiene, food and cleanliness were beyond reproach.  The medical reception and consultations were very precise and explanatory, the surgeon visited me daily, the food was very appetising and of a very high standard and there were no problems with language translations as the translator was totally bilingual and helpful to a degree far over and above what I would have expected”.

The hip replacement operation was carried out using a computer-aided navigation system, the latest technology available, and the total price paid by Mrs T was £5,800.  This included the operation, pre-op and post-op procedures and accommodation within a private double bedded room (shared with another patient) with TV, telephone, breakfast, lunch and dinner.  Her husband stayed at a hotel nearby the hospital, which cost him €70 a night.
