Capio Santé: Orthopaedic surgery in France

Capio

Capio Santé, French subsidiary of the European Healthcare leader Capio, provide a broad range of elective surgery treatments. Capio in France have always welcomed international patients attracted by the expertise of renowned medical teams, the exceptionally high quality healthcare, competitive prices (private hospitals are usually less expensive than public hospitals), accessibility and the overall excellence of the French healthcare system (ranked n°1 among 190 countries by the World Health Organization). Strengthened by this experience, Capio Santé have recently decided to develop this activity more specifically.

Why go to Capio Santé in France for surgery?

Capio Santé provides the highest quality healthcare and patient security for a price that compares very favourably with other Western countries.

  • Capio Santé private hospitals in France operate with a shared set of values: patient satisfaction, trust, respect and empathy, innovation and social responsibility

  • Experienced and highly qualified surgeons dedicated to Capio Santé with demonstrated expertise recognised by their peers, which enables Capio to provide an all inclusive price regardless of whether any complications dictate a longer stay at the hospital

  • A special emphasis on performing minimally invasive surgery and adopting innovative techniques - in 1987 Clinique de la Sauvegarde in Lyon saw the first coeliosurgery worldwide to remove a patient's gall bladder

  • Patients may select their surgeon from a list of selected on-site specialists (no external consultants coming once in a while)

  • State-of-the-art medical equipment allowing cutting edge diagnostics and minimally invasive surgery (laparoscopy, single incision laparoscopy, Da Vinci robot-assisted surgery, stereotaxy, thoracoscopy...)

  • Patient security, with intensive care units and resuscitation units in most hospitals, as well as on-site anaesthetists 24/24 and 7/7

  • A comprehensive quality and risk management policy, based on best practices and accreditations, coordinated centrally at Capio Group level. Each team is responsible for the complete care process, from the acquisition of implants and medical devices, up until the patient is discharged, with a special focus on the prevention and control of infections

  • Patients’ requests are addressed by a dedicated Capio coordinator, who speaks English and French, and who will advise you on the possible destinations available for a specific surgery

  • Pleasant and safe locations, close to international airports, which is a plus when it comes to stay about a week with a relative or close friend.

Surgery procedures offered by Capio Santé in France

Most of Capio clinics in France are oriented towards complex surgeries such as cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, neurosurgery, digestive and bariatric surgery, orthopaedic surgery, urologic surgery, gynaecologic surgery, and use state-of-the-art equipment to perform medical interventions in the safest possible environment. Despite the complexity of many procedures, Capio and its surgical teams are constantly seeking to use minimally invasive techniques whenever possible, to allow for faster recovery, less pain and reduced length of stay.

In the orthopaedic area, Capio has developed a dedicated package for international patients to deliver lower limb surgery, with the use of minimally invasive procedures whenever possible.

Procedures most commonly performed are Hip Surgery, Knee Surgery and more generally speaking any surgery dealing with lower limb.

Capio Sante world class surgeons and healthcare services
  • Total Hip Replacement requires about a 4-day stay at the clinic after surgery

  • Total Knee Replacement requires about a 5-day stay at the clinic after surgery

In both cases a few extra days' rest and physiotherapy at a Partner's are necessary to improve the joint mobility and secure the outcome of your surgery.  The specific length of stay depends on your health condition and is on average around one week.

Other lower limb orthopaedic surgeries such as arthroscopy, foot or ankle surgery can be handled on a daycare basis or with a stay of a few days, depending on their complexity.

Surgeons participating in this International Patient Welcome Program all have significant regional or national reputations and use state-of-the-art low invasive techniques and world class implant manufacturers, allowing for faster recovery.

LAST BUT NOT LEAST: Clinics involved also have MRSA levels far below the national average. They are evaluated yearly by the French Health Ministry and have received the grade 'A' for their performance in terms of Infection Prevention & Hygiene.

Where can I get orthopaedic surgery treatment in France?
