So many British patients are now opting to visit
Poland for
cosmetic surgery that surgeons now see the UK as their main market for medical tourism it has been claimed.
A BBC Radio1 Newsbeat report found that an increasing number of Britons are flying out to Poland for cosmetic surgery, with low prices proving to be the main attraction.
Pawel Paluchowski, vice-president of Warsaw-based cosmetic surgery clinic IQ Medica, told a Newsbeat reporter: "Mostly we have patients from the UK. The biggest reason why they come here is price and quality.
"Our main market is the UK. At the moment it's still growing…every month it's bigger."
According to Mr Paluchowski, the main cosmetic surgery procedures that British people choose are breast enlargement, liposuction and rhinoplasty.
Recent figures from the British Association of Aesthetic Plastic Surgeons (Baaps) show that breast augmentation was the most popular cosmetic surgery procedure performed in the UK, followed by eyelid surgery and liposuction.
