Macau to open medical tourism facility

Number of medical tourism Brits doubles in two years
Macau looks set to continue to establish its reputation as a destination for treatment abroad with the opening of a new clinic and spa.

According to quamnet.com, early 2009 will see the opening of the Malo Clinic and Malo Clinic Spa at the Venetian Macao-Resort-Hotel.

The man who will give the clinics their name is Dr Paulo Malo, a world-renowned dental surgeon credited with pioneering several surgical techniques.

The clinics will have six operating theatres, 58 luxurious spa rooms, ultra-modern wet and hydro facilities, a world class hair salon and more. Over 50 medical international doctors and 100 spa therapists will staff the facilities.

Medical out-patient services to be offered will include general surgery, cardiology, plastic surgery, paediatrics, gynaecology and of course dental medicine - a comprehensive list which is sure to attract many people seeking treatment abroad in a calming, exotic location.

Macau was originally an island just off China but a connecting 'sandbar' gradually turned into a narrow 'isthmus', changing Macau into a peninsula with a land / sand border with the mainland. It is just 60 km away from Hong Kong.
