Koreans seek cosmetic surgery solutions

The long holiday break associated with the Lunar New Year has afforded South Koreans an ideal opportunity to undergo cosmetic surgery, it has been revealed.

According to the Korea Times, cosmetic surgery clinics have experienced a boom in demand for procedures, with many opting to go under the knife at a time when they do not have to rush back to work afterwards.

A spokesperson for W Plastic Surgery in Seoul told the newspaper that they were unable to stop working during the new year holiday because of a series of scheduled operations.

"Females in their 20s and 30s usually (during holidays) have a double eyelid operation or nose job, both of which require a relatively short time to recover," the spokesperson revealed.

"As this holiday was nine days, however, the number of patients choosing time-consuming operations such as facial bone contouring, breast augmentation and even a full body makeover rose."

A recent study found that 62 per cent of women in their 20s have undergone some form of cosmetic enhancement in Seoul, a city that boasts around 1,300 cosmetic surgeons.
