The Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has become the first health institution in the Middle East to receive re-accreditation for all its five hospitals simultaneously by the Joint Commission International. The re-accreditation, which has happened for the second time, will raise HMC’s profile internationally and help it in further improving its services.
HMC says, “The re-accreditation is recognition of the high quality of services being provided. Every time JCI sets new standards for re-accreditation and all our departments had been striving hard to fulfil them. In line with the JCI requirements, all the HMC hospitals had initiated steps to reduce crowding at its facilities. This will result in reduced wait time for patients. We have successfully introduced a new appointment system.
JCI re-accreditation of our hospitals further demonstrates and guarantees patients that we are always following very rigorous standards at all times and we are proud of this achievement as only few hospitals across the world can reach such very high standards.”
No other healthcare organisation worldwide has had five hospitals - Hamad General Hospital, Women’s Hospital, Al Amal Hospital, Rumailah Hospital and Al Khor Hospital - accredited simultaneously. The accreditations, required every three years, took place between June and October of this year, starting with the Al Amal and Women’s Hospitals, before proceeding onto the Hamad General Hospital, Rumailah Hospital and Al Khor Hospitals.
