The Barraquer Eye Centre is a private eye clinic in Spain, founded in 1941. The centre is devoted to research, prevention, diagnosis, treatment and follow-up of ocular diseases, offering assistance to patients from all over the world. Professor Joaquín Barraquer, surgeon and manager, structured his team of 30 ophthalmologists in different specialities, covering all of the ophthalmology fields.

Every year the centre has about 100,000 consultations and about 12,000 patients are admitted to the Emergency Department. The total number of surgeries amounted to 14,000 eyes in 2008. The Barraquer Eye Centre also has 5 operation theatres and 5 laser units.

Each department has the latest high-tech equipment and the most advanced diagnosis systems. The centre has, at present, has 44 beds and 19 cubicles for ambulatory surgery patients.

All patients receive individual attention, and have an initial consultation, where the patient is informed of all the procedures and steps to take before his/her surgery (i.e. pre-operation tests, follow-up, financial conditions).
