Accreditation and qualification of cosmetic surgeons and doctors in Poland

Before training as a cosmetic surgeon in Poland, it is compulsory to undertake a 6-year medical degree and a subsequent internship of one to two years. In the past, this was followed by the completion of two degrees – firstly in general surgery or pediatric surgery, then a specialist degree in plastic or cosmetic surgery. This additional training takes between eight and ten years.

More recently, these further qualifications have been combined into a single degree qualification in plastic surgery.

Many Polish surgeons also undertake their studies in other European countries such as the UK and Germany, acquiring the EU recognized qualifications of that country.

Plastic surgeons in Poland are overseen by the Polish Society of Plastic, Reconstructive and Aesthetic Surgeons (Polskie Towarzystwo Chirurgii Plastycznej, Rekonstrukcyjnej i Estetycznej) and the International Society for Aesthetic Plastic Surgery.
